Generally, diners don’t want there to be a lot of suspense involved with their meals — because, of course, dinner outings are usually better when things go according to plan and no surprises are presented. But when Grand Strand vacationers are looking to spice up their evening mealtime with a little (welcome) mystery, the House of Blues at North Myrtle Beach’s Barefoot Landing has just the ticket.

At the House of Blues’ Murder Mystery Dinner Theatre — a dinner show featuring a three-course meal accompanied by an interactive comedy “who dunnit” — murder is on the menu, and attendees are tasked with cracking the case. An imaginary homicide is staged over the course of the meal, everyone is a suspect! All attendees are tasked with helping to solve the murder, and for the super-sleuth who figures out who committed the crime, there may even be a prize in store!

Presented each Saturday evening at 7 p.m., the family-friendly dinner show offers a chance for diners to solve the murder mystery while enjoying a three course meal that includes:

First course: Blues Brothers Salad with seasonal greens, sliced tomatoes and julienne carrots served with apple cider vinaigrette or ranch dressing

Second course: marinated chicken breast, rice pilaf and vegetables of the season

Third course: house-made key lime pie tart

Check out what a few of the show’s past attendees had to say about the Murder Mystery Dinner Theater:

“Had an awesome night out with the family. The entire staff was so friendly and extremely talented. They made us a part of the show, and it was great. Highly recommend this show — food was great, too!”

“The show was hilarious! The chicken dinner was quite tasty! … We laughed so hard that night and had so much to talk about afterwards.”

“The whole experience was very different but neat! Had never been to a murder mystery dinner before. … The actors were entertaining and funny, and the murder was well thought out and intricate. Me and my family enjoyed the evening and the food! Would definitely return at our next vacation.”

“My cousin and I took my Mom for her 80th birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed the murder mystery that was played out around us. It was so much fun. We didn't expect a gourmet meal, but the food was really good. All around a great night. I would definitely attend another one.”
