Myrtle Beach is famous for golf, with more than 100 championship courses on the Grand Strand. But the area also is home to the miniature variety, putt-putt golf, for those who prefer the sillier side of the sport.

But putt-putt is serious business in Myrtle Beach. The self-proclaimed “Golf Capital of the World” has also gained fame as a putt-putt destination. The US Open of Prominigolf, the Masters of Minigolf and even the US Minigolf Olympic Training Facility are located on the Strand, attracting putters from all over the world.

But most prefer to keep it on the fun side, and we have you covered. Here are the top three places to putt-putt in Myrtle Beach:

1. Hawaiian Rumble Minigolf: Take a trip to the Hawaiian Islands without leaving the mainland at this volcano- and waterfall-filled putt-putt course. Hawaiian Rumble hosts the annual U.S. Open of Prominigolf, and the U.S. Olympic training center is out back.

Hawaiian Rumble also has one of the friendliest clubhouses around, featuring a talking parrot and Hawaiian Ice slushies. Hours of operation vary by season and a round costs $9 at the North Myrtle Beach course.

2. MayDay Golf: It’s hard to miss this jungle-style layout thanks to the giant yellow airplane that has “crashed” into the course. That sets the theme for a survival-style round of putt-putt that requires nerves of steel and a steady putter to master.

This 36-hole course was featured on the Travel Channel's “Mini-Golf Madness” as the “Best Survival Course” in the U.S. MayDay Golf is located in North Myrtle Beach. Prices range from $9 to $12 and the hours vary.

3. Shark Attack Adventure Golf: The newest miniature golf course on the Grand Strand also happens to be the only oceanfront putt-putt course. Replacing the old Chesterfield Inn in 2012, this course also includes a snack bar, arcade and souvenir shop.

The course itself features a great white preying on an unsuspecting fisherman and other shark displays. Located in the heart of the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk at 7th Avenue North and Ocean Boulevard, this 18-hole layout is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily and costs $9 per round.
