There are plenty of ways to get your heart pumping when you’re visiting the beach, but few compare with the thrill of the fastest watersport in Myrtle Beach: letting the throttle out on a jet ski!

If you’re looking to rent jet skis while you’re on vacation in Myrtle Beach, there are plenty of options. And it’s recommended that you reserve jet skis during busy summer months, as demand is high and shops normally rent out all inventory. Here are just a few places from which you can rent:

A couple of notes about renting jet skis:
In order to operate a jet ski solo in Myrtle Beach, you must be 16 years of age or older with a valid ID. Most rental companies also require parental consent if the rider is younger than 16. Also, before you take the jet skis out, you will be walked through a hands-on safety and operating course for the jet ski.
Riding double on a jet ski can be fun, but it can also be a little bit more difficult to operate—the heavier the load, the more difficult it will be to balance and operate. You definitely do not want to go more than 500 pounds between people and cargo.
There are also regulations about where a jet ski can be operated in the water during peak seasons, usually you must be a little ways out at sea, not in the surf around swimmers. Be sure you understand what the rules are before you head out for the day.
Try a tour!
One option for adventure on your jet ski is to sign up for a jet ski tour. Some of the jet ski rental companies offer dolphin watch tours. Myrtle Beach Watersports, for instance, runs a two and a half hour dolphin tour through the Intracoastal Waterway out to the ocean, and offers a “guaranteed” dolphin sighting, or the dolphin tour is free.
