June marks the start of the summer season in Myrtle Beach, and the Grand Strand offers lots of fun festivals and events for the whole family. If you are in town in June, be sure to check out these highlights:
June 1-29: It's Summerfest at Barefoot Landing, and that means free concerts, fireworks shows, and entertainment five nights of the week. Have a blast on Mondays for a pyrotechnics display at 10:15 p.m., and enjoy concerts, magic shows, and Kids Karaoke. Also don't miss the nightly sunset parade around the boardwalk as a procession of stilt-walkers, mimes, jugglers and more. June 2-30: Broadway at the Beach lights up the night sky with a free fireworks display every Tuesday night at 10 p.m. Arrive early and check out all the attractions, restaurants and shops at this popular Myrtle Beach venue, and grab a good spot on the rail of Lake Broadway for a front-row seat to the biggest fireworks show in town. June 3-30: The Hot Summer Nights Concert Series returns to the Myrtle Beach Boardwalk this year with even more free family fun and entertainment on the menu. Catch live concerts on the main stage at Plyler Park five nights a week. Mondays are Kids Carnival Night, featuring games, crafts and inflatable rides for the little ones, while Wednesday nights are the main event with a huge pyrotechnics display over the Atlantic Ocean. June 4-7: The Carolina Country Music Festival transforms the old Pavilion site in downtown Myrtle Beach into a four-day outdoor honkytonk. More than 35 big name country music stars, including bands such as Lady Antebellum, Big & Rich, the Marshall Tucker Band and more. Thursday night features a kickoff concert at 7 p.m., followed by three solid days and nights of live music on two stages. June 10-14: Elvis may have left the building, but his memory lives on at the Legends In Concert theater near Broadway at the Beach. Featuring five days of Elvis tribute artists performing the King’s greatest hits, this festival is for those who fondly remember Elvis and want to relive his glory days on stage. June 14: The Hard Rock Cafe celebrates its 44th birthday and everyone is invited to the Broadway at the Beach bash. The pyramid-shaped building will go out all out to commemorate the event, including live music, food and drink specials and the customary birthday cake for those who wear their best 1970s garb. June 18: IslandFest comes to the Pawleys Island Hammock Shops Village for a fun night of family friendly entertainment under the stars. Featuring local favorites Latitude playing beach music on the main stage, guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and sit outside under the shady live oaks that grace the property. A Kids Carnival will keep the little ones entertained as the free party runs from 6 to 10 p.m.
June 27: Head inland to downtown Conway and experience an all-day family friendly party on the banks of the Waccamaw River. This historic town knows how to throw a shindig, and this annual event features live music and entertainment on the downtown stage, raft races down the Waccamaw, and other events along the scenic Riverwalk district.
