There’s only one place Myrtle Beach visitors can experience breath-taking thrills and wild-water chills in one place, and that’s the Family Kingdom Amusement Park and Waterpark.

Located in the heart of the downtown district on Ocean Boulevard, Family Kingdom offers two parks in one. The 13-acre Family Kingdom amusement park, the only oceanfront amusement park in Myrtle Beach, is just across the street from Splashes, the only oceanfront waterpark in Myrtle Beach.

Spend all day on the waterslides and all night on the thrill rides by purchasing discounted tickets to both. Best of all, both attractions require no admission charge so parents or grandparents who prefer to take pictures and supervise rather than ride the slides and roller coasters can join in on the family fun for free.

The Family Kingdom Amusement Park features a wide variety of rides, including the historic Swamp Fox roller coaster that zooms along the coastline. The new Slingshot DropZone gives guests a birds’-eye view of the beach and downtown district before taking a 110-foot freefall. Other popular rides include the Twist ‘N Shout steel roller coaster, the Hurricane, the Scrambler, the Thunderbolt, the Tilt-a-Whirl, and the Yo-Yo.

The Family Kingdom Amusement Park has been in operation since 1977, but continuous upgrading has kept this theme park up with modern times. The new Twist ‘n’ Shout Wild Mouse-style steel roller coaster was one of several additions in the 2013 season, along with the Kite Flyer, where passengers lay down in gondolas and experience the thrill of flight. Other new rides for the kids include the Flying Tigers airplane ride and the Frog Hopper.

Across the street on the beach, Splashes Water Park offers a nice selection of slides and rides for all ages. The Speed Slides send riders down a 100-foot incline and a huge splashdown, while the Water Flumes feature a twisting track through open and enclosed tubes. For a tamer but equally refreshing experience, the 425-foot Lazy River is a great place to relax. Kiddie pools and small slides keep the little ones wet and happy.
