Experience manmade and natural beauty in one unique setting at the 42nd annual Art in the Park series, which is held at Chapin Park in downtown Myrtle Beach on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 11-12.
Hosted by the Waccamaw Arts Guild, Art in the Park provides a great opportunity for local, regional and national artists to shop their wares in the scenic setting of Chapin Park, which is located behind the Chapin Memorial Library at the corner of Kings Highway and 16th Avenue North.
Stroll along the sidewalks of Chapin Park and explore the booths set up by some of the finest artists and craftsmen in the business. Shop around for paintings, glasswork, pottery, jewelry, photography and other hand-crafted pieces that you won't find anywhere else. Talk to the artists who made them for added insight into your one of a kind piece.
Whether you are a serious collector or just a browser, you will find various items of interest throughout Chapin Park. Vendors from all over the East Coast set up shop and share the secrets to their craftwork with the general public. It’s a great place to shop for Christmas gifts for those people on your list who already have everything, or almost everything, because these unique works are one of a kind and hard to find.
In addition to the arts and crafts collections, there are food booths and snack vendors so you can bring a blanket and enjoy a picnic in the park. Chapin Park also features a large playground so you can let the kids burn off some energy whole you shop at the vendors' exhibits. The fall weather and changing leaves in the surrounding shade trees provide the perfect backdrop for an artistic day in the outdoors with the whole family.
Art in the Park is held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Admission is free for all ages, but be sure to bring some cash if you plan to make a purchase or enjoy a bite to eat at the event. If you are unable to attend the Oct. 11-12 event, there will be another Art in the Park at the same place on Nov. 1-2, as well as one at Valor Park in the Market Common on Nov. 8-9.
