The Jimmy Buffett hit song “Cheeseburger In Paradise” strikes a chord with Parrotheads and all types of beachgoers who have ever experienced that special kind of hunger that comes from a day in the sun, surf and sand. A healthy snack might hold off the hunger pains for a little while, but eventually your body wants something meaty, cheesy and greasy.

North Beach Plantation guests have a nice refuge from the heat at the award-winning swim up pool bar. Named the No. 1 swim-up bar in America by Trip Advisor, this cozy little aquatic cafe serves frozen drinks and light fare for a refreshing fill-up. But if you find yourself out and about and get the urge for a beach-casual dive that is walking distance from the ocean, check out these five hot spots for lunch:

Beach Bummz Cafe: Almost hidden amid rows of high-rise hotels on the Myrtle Beach oceanfront, this small beach house was converted into a bar and grill that boasts one of the best back yards on the Strand. The indoor section is cozy and air-conditioned, but the action heats up outside where a grassy courtyard with picnic tables and live music on the stage await hungry beachgoers. Folks stroll up through the dunes and join in the fun as bikini-clad customers feast on the signature burgers, salads, sandwiches and seafood. The Blackened Grouper Reuben and Philly Chicken Cheese are two of the house favorites. Enjoy a cold beer and play a game of corn hole after lunch. The live music is limited to the daylight hours as not to disturb guests at the neighboring hotels.

Hamburger Joe's: North Beach guests are in luck. Just outside the resort entrance stands one of the true treasures of hot, cheap beach food in Hamburger Joe's. Hand-patted burgers steamed on the grill attract patrons from everywhere within sniffing distance, and both locals and tourists come as they are to get one all the way – with chili, slaw, onions and mustard. Pulled-pork barbecue, chicken wings and onion rings are among the popular alternatives, and the bar offers $1 drafts all the time. The walls are covered with dollar bills decorated and donated by guests over the years. This is one of the best bang-per-buck restaurants on the Strand.

Molly Darcy's: What do you get when you cross an Irish pub with a beach bar? Molly Darcy's, which has a great vibe, view and menu. Located on the North Myrtle Beach oceanfront, locals and tourists alike take a break from the beach for a few cold beers and burgers on the patio deck, or grab a bite inside over a game of darts or pool. Molly Darcy's has a wide selection of sandwiches and Irish fare for lunch, like a Corned Beef Reuben or the Fish and Chips. Wash it down with one of the many draft imports.

Ocean Annie's: The biggest party on the beach is happening just south of North Beach in the Arcadian Shores neighborhood. Featuring live bands playing on the oceanfront pool deck and guests in swimsuits dancing in and out of the water, Ocean Annie's puts on a beach bash every day during the summer months. In addition to the indoor and outdoor bar areas, Ocean Annie's also serves a mean burger and fries, as well as other lunch fare. Spend some time on the beach and stroll back to the bar when hunger and thirst strike.

Peaches Corner: This downtown Myrtle Beach burger stand has been an institution on the oceanfront for more than 75 years. Serving famous hot dogs, hamburgers, fries and shakes, Peaches Corner has been feeding generations of families who flock to the beach and look forward to a Footlong Dog with Chili, Mustard, Onions and Slaw. This place has a certain charm, sort of like a 1950s lunch counter diner transported to the ocean.
