Take care of all your vacation and souvenir shopping needs at one place – the historic Gay Dolphin Gift Cove in downtown Myrtle Beach.

Standing as a centerpiece of the new Myrtle Beach Boardwalk, this three-story shop has everything you could want and more under one roof. Whether you're looking for beach toys to keep the kids entertained or shopping for Myrtle Beach gifts to take home, you'll find what you're searching for at the Gay Dolphin.

In continuous operation by the same family since it opened in 1946, the Gay Dolphin remains the oldest and largest gift shop on the East Coast. The store's 26,000 square feet are stacked to the ceilings with more than 70,000 items, giving shoppers a chance to browse for hours without coming across the same thing twice.

With wares ranging from real shark’s teeth and seashells to sarcophagus’ and Hummel figurines, there's something for everyone's taste at the Gay Dolphin. The store also features an extensive beachwear section, including swimsuits, flip-flops and T-shirts sporting some humorous slogans.

Take a break from a hot day strolling the Boardwalk and cool off in the friendly environs of the Gay Dolphin. For those up to the climb, take the winding staircase to the roof-top observatory and look out for miles over the Atlantic Ocean and down below at the bustling downtown district.

But a word of warning; it's tough to walk through this historic shop without walking out with a thing or two. The shop's extensive volume allows the Gay Dolphin to provide a wider variety of souvenirs at a lower price.

The Gay Dolphin is open from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. from March to October and from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. November through February. The doors are open even later on summer Saturdays and during special holidays.
