While the Myrtle Beach area’s temperate coastal climate supports year-round golf, many local golfers point to spring as the best time to get into the swing of the sport here — because that’s when the 100-plus golf courses on the Grand Strand are in full bloom and at their most beautiful, when the temperatures are at their most comfortable, and when the peak summer crowds have yet to make their way to the South Carolina coast.

And at The Cottages at North Beach Plantation, located on a 7.5-acre “island” between the Atlantic Ocean and Whitepoint Swash in North Myrtle Beach, we’ve got a range of comfortable accommodations and amazing amenities to keep you and your golfing buddies happy. We’ve even got friendly and knowledgeable staff members who are specially trained to help you plan the perfect Grand Strand golf getaway.

So, for a sure shot of a resort that puts you within easy reach of some of the Grand Strand’s top golf courses, consider The Cottages at North Beach Plantation and these nearby layouts:

Barefoot Resort & Golf — Located along the Intracoastal Waterway less than 2 miles inland from The Cottages at North Beach Plantation, Barefoot is home to a foursome of courses designed by some of the biggest names in golf and course design — and awarded some of the most prestigious honors in the industry. Created by Pete Dye, the visually stunning and technically challenging Dye Course is filled with the pitfalls and obstacles that have become synonymous with the legendary course architect’s name. Carolina native Davis Love III leaned on golfing knowledge garnered from decades of PGA Tour success to create the Love Course, a traditional layout with Lowcountry character. In the Fazio Course, world-class architect Tom Fazio has created a Lowcountry classic by mixing extensive tree cover from live oaks and pines with natural hazards like sand and lakes. And at the Norman Course, PGA royalty Greg Norman has created an Intracoastal Waterway-bordering layout that gives the feel of a course from the desert Southwest — only without the desert.

Azalea Sands — Located on North Kings Highway about 2.5 miles north of The Cottages at North Beach Plantation, this Gene Hamm-designed layout opened in 1972 and has since become one of the classics on the Myrtle Beach golf scene. The 18-hole, par-72 course’s open layout can be deceiving — it regularly requires golfers to use every club in their bags to navigate its generous fairways and true-rolling greens while avoiding its natural lakes and strategically placed bunkers. A mix of power and precision is the key to success on this uniquely designed course, which offers one of the most scenic golf settings on the Grand Strand with its rare lack of homes adjoining the course.

Grande Dunes Resort Club — Found about 6 miles southwest of The Cottages at North Beach Plantation, Grande Dunes is a Robert Rulewich Group-designed layout that is known for its spectacular high-bluff views of the Intracoastal Waterway and the challenges it offers golfers of every skill level. Named National Golf Course of the Year in 2009 by the National Golf Course Owners Association of America, the 18-hole, par-72 course features a links-style design with expansive, subtly undulating Bermuda grass fairways and modestly contoured greens. After their rounds, golfers can head to the Mediterranean-style clubhouse for 19th-hole festivities on a veranda overlooking the 18th green.

These are just a few of the stunning and award-winning courses found along the Grand Strand and in the Golf Capital of the World. So book your getaway at The Cottages at North Beach Plantation today, pack your luggage and golf bag, and head for Myrtle Beach — there’s no better place to get into the swing of spring!
