When you finally get to your summer vacation destination after battling traffic, airports, and, of course, after getting through those last long days at the office leading up to your time away, there’s a good chance the last thing you’re going to want to do is get back in the car to drive to the attractions and entertainment you’re after. That’s why it’s important to choose a hotel with a great location right in the middle of it all—like Driftwood at the Boardwalk!

Wondering what you can do from the Driftwood? Here are just a few options:

• Walk to—you guessed it—the boardwalk
The Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is one of the most successful improvement projects in Myrtle Beach history. It opened in 2010, and runs along 1.2 miles of scenic oceanfront. It was named by National Geographic travel the third best boardwalk in the U.S., behind only Coney Island and Atlantic City. The northern section is a raised wooden deck, home to free Hot Summer Nights of entertainment, while the middle section has what’s been described as a “carnival atmosphere” full of entertainment, shopping and dining. The southern section is park-like, with meandering trails and places to sit and enjoy the scenery. And the boardwalk is located less than a five minute walk from the Driftwood.

• Take in the sights at Pier 14
The pier was originally built in the 1920s, and it now serves as a great place to enjoy the ocean views, fish for the day, or enjoy a meal at the Pier 14 Restaurant. Day passes for fishing are only $7, and for another $7, you can add in a pole rental—and the shop on the pier also sells ice-cold beers. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner, as well as a deck menu.

• Take a flight on the Myrtle Beach SkyWheel
The Myrtle Beach SkyWheel is one of the iconic elements of the Myrtle Beach oceanfront skyline, towering nearly 200 feet over the boardwalk. A 10-minute flight costs $13, $9 for kids, though it’s free for kids 2 and younger. Military and senior discounts are available, but not for advance purchase tickets, only when you purchase onsite. And even if you aren’t into taking a flight in a temperature-controlled gondola, stop by and check out the SkyWheel at light, when it’s illuminated by millions of LED lights—it’s a sight to behold!

That’s just a few of the places you can walk from the Driftwood—there are plenty of options for shopping and dining, too. So come on down and get to know our neighborhood!
