A vacation spent at North Beach Plantation means only one thing – a luxury getaway through and through. From the amenities provided at North Beach, to the exclusive coastal beachfront, there is nothing that could supplement a luxury vacation on the Grand Strand than a round at one of the premier golf courses only accessible to guests.

For the golf-portion of your vacation, look to these three elite courses and facilities, just minutes away, as a place to start:

  • Barefoot Resort
With four fantastic modern courses by four acclaimed designers (including two major champions) Barefoot Resort earns many Myrtle Beach visitors’ “Best Resort” designation. There’s the Norman Course and its dalliances with the commanding Intracoastal Waterway on the back nine. There is the Love Course and its unforgettable “ruins” holes on the front nine. There is the Fazio Course, authored by one of the modern era’s best-known architects, and the only living man who has made changes to Augusta National. And finally, there is The Dye Club, annual host to the Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am and recent Myrtle Beach World Am Championship Round host.

  • Beachwood Golf Club
On the opposite end of the spectrum from Barefoot Resort is Beachwood Golf Club. Whereas Barefoot boasts four modern layouts, Beachwood consists of a humble, straightforward tract of 18 holes designed by Gene Hamm and opened in 1968. But don’t dismiss the course – it’s particularly ideal for a warm-up round or a late-afternoon “emergency 18.” It finishes in style, with a terrific risk-reward par five followed by a 225-yard par three. If your match is close through 16 holes at Beachwood, look out: anything can happen.

  • Farmstead Golf Links
True to its name, Farmstead Golf Links gives players the feeling of playing golf “down on the farm,” as the course occupies property that used to be farmland for a prominent local family, the McLambs.  With sprawling fairways, well-placed bunkers and slick, undulating greens, the course has an open feel, with wind affecting full shots most every day. Another fascinating feature of the course is that several holes straddle the border between South Carolina and North Carolina such that players will tee off in one state, and play their next shot in the other. Small signs along the cart paths on these holes signal border crossings. One of the holes where this phenomenon takes place is the signature 18th, a 767-yard par six. The tee, located in South Carolina, gives way to a massive, serpentine fairway, and finally a green guarded by a bunker in front and a lake to the left. It is an amazing, memorable end to a wonderful golf course.

North Beach Plantation’s reputation for luxury extends beyond its spectacular facilities to its gracious staff, which includes a knowledgeable team of golf directors. Let them guide you as you assemble your golf itinerary on your next Myrtle Beach golf vacation – you will not be disappointed.
