Little River ShrimpFest Serves Up Jumbo-Sized Fun

The summer season may be over, but there is still plenty of fall fun to be had for guests at North Beach Plantation.

Are you already missing all the fresh seafood and the coastal atmosphere? The Little River ShrimpFest is an event that definitely makes it worth coming out to the coast for the weekend. Now in its 12th year, the annual event’s 2016 edition is scheduled for the weekend of October 8 and 9, and it is a fantastic gathering.

Located just a short drive from North Beach Plantation, the quaint town of Little River, South Carolina, serves as the setting for the festival, an extravagant gala of food and entertainment. Over 22,000 visitors and members of the local community gather to make this the party of the year! Local waterfront restaurants will be serving fresh shrimp and other delectable seafood, and many other food vendors will be on hand offering all the delicious festival-fare favorites. Families can bring the kids to get their faces painted and watch the balloon artists and stilt walkers. There will also be approximately 150 different booths and displays of all kinds, from arts and crafts to business expos to local community organization representatives.

Live music will be performed throughout the weekend on two different stages. Performers scheduled for this year include Randy McQuay, Brian Ernst, The Empire Strikes Brass, PaperWork and The Bibis Ellison Band. A full list of performers and times is available at littlerivershrimpfest.org/entertainment.

The ShrimpFest is an all-day affair, with events scheduled from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 9. The festival is being held at the Historic Little River Waterfront. Admission is $5, with kids 12 and under getting in free, and parking is also free. It’s a great deal for a fun day with the family!

This is an outdoor event, but please note that dogs and other pets — unless a certified service animal — will not be permitted on the festival grounds.

If you’re thinking about a weekend getaway this fall, the ShrimpFest is a great event to plan around. Little River is just up the coast from North Beach Plantation – you can get there in less than half an hour! It’s the perfect way to satisfy your seafood cravings and enjoy the wonderful fall weather on the waterfront.
