Looking to gain some historic knowledge during your exciting vacation on the Grand Strand? Combine history and entertainment, as you visit North Myrtle Beach for a fantastic display in remembrance of an unforgettable performer. One of America’s greatest entertainment reassures was legendary actor, comedian, and supporter of the troops, Bob Hope. His witty banter and timeless tales boosted morale during war times and kept those on the home-front laughing as well. Hope has been honored in many states, and now, for the first time in South Carolina, "Bob Hope: An American Treasure,” will be on display for locals and visitors alike.

Founded in 2013, the North Myrtle Beach Historical Museum is proud to present the exhibit, which celebrates the life and legacy of this great American. The exhibit examines Bob Hope’s entire life, from videos documenting his early years as a member of an immigrant family, to his rise to fame, to his interactions with leading US political figures, to his unabashed support for American servicemen and women, to his ardent love of golf.

The exhibit is presented by the World Golf Hall of Fame & Museum and sponsored by the Bob and Delores Hope Foundation. It features over 170 artifacts, 200 vintage photos, and seven video displays. The exhibit will be on display this summer from May 1- August 31. This is an excellent opportunity to take a small break from the beach and celebrate the man who greatly embodies what it is to be an American. Admittance to the exhibit is included in the regular cost of museum admission.

The Museum also offers presentations on local history. Other exhibits featured this summer include SHAG memorabilia, rural and beach artifacts, and images showing the devastation of hurricanes Hazel and Hugo. Don’t miss out on a great slice of local and national history!
