At The Cottages of North Beach Plantation – the perfect getaway for Grand Strand vacationers searching for peace and quiet – the intimate, suburban-style layout offers guests the comforts of home with the amenities of a resort. From the oceanfront poolscape to the private boardwalk, North Beach Plantation offers a slice of paradise located just minutes from Myrtle Beach.

This cozy community is also only 5 minutes from another paradise of sorts – Duplin Winery. Located next to Alligator Adventure and in front of the Barefoot Landing shopping, dining and entertainment complex in North Myrtle Beach, Duplin has been voted the area’s Best Wine Tasting Bar by MyrtleBeach.com. Its award-winning muscadine wines have pleased the palettes of many patrons. For example, its Magnolia, a medium white muscadine wine, was featured in Martha Stewart Living as a favorite summer wine; its Hatteras Red, a sweet red muscadine wine, is frequently enjoyed with barbecue; and its Scuppernong, a fruity, sweet white wine, is credited with being the oldest style of wine made in America. With such great reviews, it’s no wonder Duplin is the largest winery in the South!

Want a taste of the sweet stuff? Wine tastings are available Monday through Saturday, up until one hour prior to closing. For just $10, guests can taste 10 delicious wines while enjoying gourmet crackers and dip. The winery switches up the tasting sheet every six weeks to introduce patrons to a variety of delicious flavors. A provided score sheet allows you to rate your favorite samples so you know exactly which to buy in the winery’s gift shop. While sipping samples and snacking, visitors get a glimpse of how wine was bottled before the introduction of automated machinery by viewing the hand-bottling line. And when the tasting is finished, guests are given a full serving of their favorite wine from the tasting sheet. You even get to keep your Duplin wine glass!

But that’s not the only experience that Duplin offers. Between March and October, the winery pairs its luscious fare with live music to create a fun, relaxing atmosphere. These “Music in the Courtyard” concerts are free and first-come, first-serve. Visitors can sit in the courtyard, tapping their feet in time with the music as they enjoy the sweet comfort of Carolina muscadine wine. A full schedule of performers and times can be found on Duplin’s website.

If you’re hooked after a tasting or concert, don’t fret over where to find Duplin wine. The winery’s Heritage Club can ship a featured wine to your door quarterly. Members also get access to early wine releases, members-only gatherings and Heritage Magazine. Issues of the exclusive magazine are full of delectable recipes, club updates, and coupons for wine and accessories. They’ll even send you special rewards and gifts for your birthday!

After a fun-filled visit to Duplin Winery, the staff at North Beach Plantation will be ready to welcome you back to your tranquil retreat. A dip in the pool or a stroll down the boardwalk, each with the waves crashing in the distance, might be the perfect end to a wonderful day on the Grand Strand.
