Bike your heart out at Pawleys Island

South Carolina's famed cycling opportunities can give you just the outdoors experience you are looking for on vacation, whether it's taking in the fabulous Waccamaw Neck Bikeway from Murrells Inlet to Sandy Island Road, or taking a leisurely ride up and down the beach. If you are in the Litchfield Beach or Pawleys Island areas, you can easily rent a bike — along with any other needed gear — to take advantage of spectacular biking trails and beach cycling.

We've rounded up the best places for you to rent cycling gear in the area:

Guests at Litchfield Beach and Golf Resort can rent bikes on site at the bike rental at 350 Retreat Beach Circle. Open 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily in season, this is the place to go to explore the spacious resort property and bike trails and beaches, plus nearby biking favorites such as the Waccamaw Neck Bikeway. Many options are available for your family, including adults' and kids' bikes. Cost is $12 for 3 hours or $15 for a full day, and $5 each additional day (helmets are included). 888-734-8228  

Cyclopedia in Pawleys Island ready to meet your cycling needs, and the store, located very close to the Waccamaw Neck Bikeway, has plenty of parking so can start from there on your adventure. Road bikes rent for $40 per day, but there are plenty of other options, too. Hourly and daily rates are available for cruisers, comfort bikes, kids' bikes, trailers, baby seats and more. Plus, you can have your rental bikes delivered and picked up for the ultimate in convenience. Pawleys Island Beach Service offers tons of rentals, including bikes, chairs, umbrellas and more. Conveniently located on Ocean Highway, this service is a great option for a beach cruiser ride for the whole family. Single-speed cruisers and kids' bikes rent for $10 for the first day, $5 each additional day or $35 for the week.
