Here in Myrtle Beach, we have Broadway at the Beach.
Deemed the top attraction in South Carolina, the sprawling entertainment complex comprises dining, shopping, rides and games, shows, a top-rated aquarium, nightlife and more.
This place is huge, folks, and has something for everyone. But where to even begin? With the kids, of course, then we’ll move on up the age ladder. Here we go:
For the little ones:
It’s imperative that we tucker out the smallest kids (and have a stroller handy for napping) so the adults can have a little free time later on. Start with Pavillion Park, where the wee ones can ride a carousel, tea cups, and more in the West section. Older kids can head to Center for the Cliff Hanger and Wave Swinger (the names say it all). Then head to the Ripley’s Aquarium, which will dazzle your whole crew. Hop on the people mover and glide beneath a 750,000 gallon shark tank; pet some horseshoe crabs; romp around in the activity room, and of course, wander through the incredible sea life displays. The dive shows are a particular treat. Speaking of treat, fuel up at Johnny Rockets for a hand-dipped shake (and a burger and fries, of course). This is where that stroller comes in handy. Let those kiddos snooze while the older crowd has some fun.
For the teens:
Have an adventurous brood? Try the Backstage Mirror Maze, a new attraction that delights the senses and challenges the mind. A number of mazes means options for all levels of problem-solving, and hustle through to earn a Top Ten score. If you came prepared with your swimsuits (and you should), head to the expansive Myrtle Waves Water Park but do note hours are seasonal, and it closes until next summer on September 14. The gamers ought to check out MagiQuest for live-action, fantasy adventures and mystery solving. You could spend hours in here. And that’s not necessarily a bad thing! Don’t forget to check out the Encounters U.F.O. Experience )exhibit either for some spooky fun! Break for some delish food with a side of showmanship at Yamato Steak House Japan. Chefs entertain with epic knife and cooking skills while serving up grilled steak, chicken, shrimp and veggies. You can’t miss Hard Rock Cafe either — it’s in the giant pyramid. The burgers will satisfy and the cool selection of music memorabilia will have you all talking. Ok, the kids are napping, the teens are off to play some mini golf, time for mom and dad to go exploring.
For the grown-ups:
Mom and dad, are ready to sit down for a litte bit? Get your chuckles at the Carolina Comedy Club, be wowed by big-name musical acts (well, incredible tributes thereof) at Legends in Concert, or just check out entirely at the movies. If the kids get a second wind and it’s still baseball season, cheer on the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. Feeling in need of a little refreshing? Try Liberty Steakhouse & Brewery where you can fill up on a delicious cut and unwind with one of their craft beers. Don’t forget about Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville for their, you know, margaritas. Yum.
