The dreaded 7-10 split is the second shot no bowler wants to see, unless you happen to be talking about the new 710 entertainment complex. After a massive renovation project to the old North Myrtle Beach Lanes, the new and improved venue offers a lot more than bowling, such as a full service restaurant and bar, and a high tech arcade and game room.

This isn't your father's bowling alley. In fact, unless you are a millennial, it's probably not the kind of bowling alley you are accustomed to either. But places like 710 represent the future of entertainment by providing multiple activities under one roof. In addition to bowling, guests can play bocce, billiards, darts, Foosball, ping pong, shuffleboard and more. And after working up a hearty appetite, enjoy a great meal and drinks beyond the traditional bowling alley fare.

Walk through the front door and you will instantly realize the difference between 710 and most bowling alleys you have visited. Neon blue lights, disco balls and a mix of modern and retro decor set a different mood that makes 710 perfect for date night, a family outing or a gathering place for large groups. You can still rent shoes and pick out your own bowling ball like most lanes you've visited, but there's very little else in common aside from the fun-loving folks letting the good times roll.

The biggest difference can be found in the restaurant and bar. Unlike typical bowling alleys that offer pizza, hot dogs and concession-style snacks, 710's menu is as diverse as any fine-dining establishment in town. Featuring several seafood dishes, like Coconut Shrimp, Mahi Mahi Tacos, and Crab Cakes in Remoulade Sauce, 710 also features lots of turf dishes to pair with the surf, such as Prime Rib, Beef Stroganoff Crepes, Caprese Chicken and the house special Lamb Chop Lollipops.

Of course, 710 also serves more traditional fare like Chicken Wings with Thai Chili Teriyaki, Garlic Parmesan and 710 Alarm Buffalo sauces; 100-percent Black Angus Sirloin Burgers featuring such toppings as Portobello Mushrooms, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Caramelized Onions; and Flat Bread Pizzas ranging from classic Pepperoni and Cheese to fancier Margherita, White and the Carolina Pulled Pork BBQ pie. There are lots of other appetizers, salads, sandwiches and even desserts.

The 710 Sports Bar features big screen TVs that carry UFC fights, the NFL, NBA, NHL and other major sporting events. Featuring a full-service bar of liquor drinks and wines and a wide selection of domestic, imported and microbrew beers, 710 is a great place to take a break from your games to enjoy the big games. Happy hour is from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. every day and offers $2.50 domestic drafts and bottles, $3 imports, liquor drinks, and margaritas, and daily food specials.

710 also offers several discounts on bowling and other activities throughout the week. Mad Mondays include $2 bowling and shoe rentals until 8 p.m.; Tuesdays feature live country music in the sports bar; Wednesdays are Family Fun Nights (bowling, shoes, and sodas for four is only $20); and Thursdays are unlimited bowling for $10 per person. 710 cranks up the music and the fun on the weekend with a live DJ on Fridays and Saturdays, while Sundays feature NFL game specials and team and individual tournaments on select arcade games.

710 is located at 1105 Highway 17 South, only three miles north of North Beach Plantation. Other bowling alleys and multi-game complexes on the Grand Strand include Frank’s Entertainment in Murrells Inlet and the Waccamaw Lanes on Highway 501 in Myrtle Beach. All are great places to have fun and let the good times roll.
